If you live in a place with bad winters and cold weather… buy this hat!Sometimes you get a carharrt product that lacks a bit of quality and feels cheaply made, this is the exact exception. This hat will probably last you a lifetime and pay for itself the first winter you use it I love this thing and once you break it in you wouldn’t sell it back for what you paid for it I promise you that

Just arrived, and I’m happy with the purchase. I wear a 7 and 3/8 cap size for MLB fitted caps, and knowing Carhartt sizing runs a little on the big side, I ordered the M/L for this hat. It fits perfectly. The L/XL would have been way too big.

Light in weight. I was hoping for something more substantial… Sherpa lining (fluff-cotton) is the only insulation… I suspect it will not be warm enough in the dead of NY winters (currently Oct. 2022)… Gimmicky ear flaps did not impress… The smallest size available (Med-Large) was still a bit too large… (I am 5′ 10′ @ 250 lbs.) Back it goes…

My last Carhart trapper hat was stolen a number of years ago. Then I found out they discontinued the hat. Now they have brought it back and I was hopeful for the same quality. Sadly this is not the case. There are a number of changes. The hat does not have the same insulation as the original. The front brim is stitched in place rather than using snaps like the original. And over all it feels cheap.Very dissapointed.

I live in a place that gets 60 inches of rain a year. It is cold, wet, and dark all winter. This hat makes it a little more tolerable to be outside. I had my doubts on why this is called “rain defender” but it is actually quite nice in the rain. The fabric sheds water and the fluff parts don’t seem to absorb wet like one would assume it would. Overall, not an inexpensive hat but a great addition for an old guy.

I looked at trapper hats at a local overpriced cabelas store. They had 3 different types ranging from 30-40 dollars. You could effortlessly pull the faux fur out. Not with the carhartt. Long story short if your after the dog sat on my face look; cabelas got you.

It’s getting very cold and I needed something to keep me warm. After looking over a few options I decided this. Some people had a few issues with the ear hole placement, but it’s only a centimeter or so away from the ear canal. It has Sherpa lining so it’ll keep you warm, two buttons on the bottom for better fit. Overall very good purchase.

Isn’t very warm on the ears. 30°F+ weather is perfect, but any colder you will need an extra hat if you work outdoors.
