I’d be lying if I said I was really looking forward to getting out and shoveling after our first heavy snowfall. But, having tried this hat, I can say that I’m dreading it less. The fleece lining is soft and warm, and the face cover pulls up into place to provide extra wind protection without feeling too constricting. I will likely order more of these to keep in our cars for emergencies.

This is a decent mid weight hat. I have a regular trapper hat with all of the bulky fleece inside. And it might be okay for really cold times. But I like that this one is made to keep you warm without all of the extra bulk. It’s a fairly light weight material, with earflaps with a thinner lining of fleece that you can pull down and secure around your chin with the buckle. Or you can hook the up on top so if you just need to head covered. The elastic sliding size adjuster in the back is great. I have a 7 1/4 hat size, and it fits me fine. But it can be made both smaller and bigger than that too.I will definitely be using this for dog walking, yard work, etc out in the chilly northwest winter weather!

So the car died. Swell. Now we have to walk to the lightrail in the wet and the cold. It could be worse, but… Enter hat. This is not Alaskan Winter colder-than-should-be-allowed gear, but for a more prosaic still-too-cold but usually 30βs to 40βs temperature zone this is awesome. The ear flaps fit snugly on either side and fasten down, the hat itself is snug enough to be comfortable and not blow off in yesterdayβs 30 mph winds (again, thank you, snaps) and the face cover is breathable and soft. The fleece REALLY helps. In stylish black and with the baseball cap visor you looks a bit like a bandit, but thatβs to be expected in the cold. It is water resistant enough to keep dry through a medium/drizzly rain. I think it would be perhaps challenged in a full downpour, but you use an umbrella then, anyway. Or a plastic or leather hood. The face covering is, again, breathable, but as such is the lightest and least wind-proof part. It works, but perhaps not quite as tightly as the masks we have all come to know. Still, we are extremely happy with this warm hat!

This hat is great. When I saw it on Amazon, I immediately thought that this would great for my husband and I to wear when snow blowing/shoverling the driveway in the winter. I think that this hat is great for anyone, but I like it for several specific reasons. Besides being lightweight, it is waterproof, washable, it is fully fleece lined for warmth. It has flaps to keep your ears warm and itβs not bulky like knit hat, but the thing that I like the best is the visor. For someone who wears glasses, being out in the rain and snow can be a pain because your glasses keep getting wet. You are constantly having to wipe them off. The visor on this hat is nicely arched and comes out far enough to keep the wet off of your glasses. I really like the navy blue color I chose. In addition to the above there is an elastic cord on the back that allows you to adjust the fit of the hat to your head. There is also a very soft, stretchy removable face protector that covers your nose and mouth if you want to use it and if you do not you can just remove it as it is just attached by Velcro. Lastly, there is a strap that you can clip under your chin if you want, or, if you remove the face mask portion, you can clip it at the top of the hat, and it holds the ear flaps up. There is nothing that I do not like about this hat.

At its core, this has promises to keep your head and ears warm and features a breathable mesh mask to help protect your face from the cold. The hat is warm, light weight, and a bit big for me (I wear a fairly small hat anyway). It indeed, repels water/snow, as promised. The chin strap seemed like it would be too small, but once I got it on it was comfortable enough I forgot it was there. The face mask is made of a material that reminds me of football jerseys, and does help keep the warmth in. Unfortunately, it’s pretty tight across my face (I have a bit of a square shaped face, but nothing like a strong lantern jaw), and I’m pretty sure there will be folks out there it will not fit. For those it doesn’t fit (or who don’t want to use it), there is a pocket in that hat to tuck it away in. Since we’re still in the early 2020s, I’ll risk being redundant/obvious and state that the mask wouldn’t qualify as the type to help keep you safe from germs. It has holes big enough to see and see through, if you’re concerned about that.Otherwise, the heat is soft-sided, very packabel and could be stuffed into a coat when you go inside to visit folks or are done running errands for the day. It’s going to be my go-to hat while shoveling this year (I enjoy having a brim to keep the snow off my face, especially during wintery mix showers).Good hat, pretty good selection of colors- my only reservation is how the mask will fit others.

I didnβt want any of the furry versions. I saw this one and am happy Iβve gotten it.
