For years I have considered buying a compact generator for camping and other outdoor events where I need to have power but have no access to electricity. For instance when tailgating or at a picnic. I just never felt it was a need but was more of a want. A prolonged power outage at a campground that prevented me from working remotely was all I needed to finally convince me to do it. After doing a little research I settled on the Westinghouse 2200.As soon as the generator arrived I unboxed it, read the included instruction manual and setup the generator as directed. Westinghouse included the tools, funnel, and oil needed to open the side access panel and fill the generator with oil. Once filled with oil, I added the gasoline and took it outside to start it up. The generator started on the very first pull. I ran the generator for 5 hours total varying the load using my electric impact drill (which draws a peak of 900A) to generate the recommended maximum amperage load (which is no more than 50% of the max). I didn’t run the drill non-stop but ran it for 2-3 minutes every 15-20 minutes. The generator increased its output each time the load surged and had no problem at all.The generator is also very quiet. I have a 8000 watt generator for my home and it is so loud you can’t carry on a conversation next to it without shouting. The Westinghouse generator was quiet enough that my wife and I carried on a conversation when she was standing 20 feet away and I was right next to the generator. I think my impact drill was actually louder than the generator. As far as portability is concerned, the generator weighs around 50lbs with fuel. It was easy for me to pick up and carry around using the handle. Lifting it to the tailgate of a larger truck would require two hands for most people but would still be easy.I am taking the generator on a camping trip next week and will update my review then with more real world experience.

I bought this generator with the idea of temporary back up unit, because my primary unit was with mechanical problems (No current output). The nature of my job require everyday generator- use becausewe do mobile car’s window tinting; we need power enough to feed a 2000 watts heatgun. My Yamaha generator inverter i2800 was running smooth for 18 years and now is in Yamaha Service to fix the problem.– Unfortunately the cost of the repair reach eleven hundred bucks which no make sensepay it because a new one unit cost 1,400 bucks aprox. I start using this blue guy and feel happy with thepurchase.- Among the advantages I can mention the following:Very compact size.- (Half volume than mi Yamaha)The noise is very quiet (Of coarse push less power than Yamaha) but run smooth because the invertercapability.- The weight is very maneuverable (40-45 pounds); The foot are rubber which is a good ideabecause absorbs the vibration when you run it in hard surfaces like the bed of my work truck.Oil and spark location very easy to reach and come with tools to do the task easier.MY JUST COMPLAINT (and this is the reason of 4stars) Is the gasoline tank capacity. Why they didn’ta little bigger the tank. Is less than a gallon. we have to stop more frequently in the gas station. I had to buy a small gasoline container to keep a quart of gas in case of running out of gas in the middle of the job. (Yamaha tank was 1.9 gallons) I don’t like keep gasoline in the truck to refill generator but is the way that have to go. Price was very cheap in comparison my Yamaha and I know I can’t expect the durability of Yamaha or Honda; but the price tag is affordable and I am happy really with the guy blue which is my primary generator now.

I bought this generator to supplement my solar on my camper for off grid use. I have not used this generator long term because it is the end of the season but I can give you my initial thoughts. At 580.00 bucks this is a steal! Generator came packed nice with no damage. Filled the oil up , added some 93 octane fuel and she fired up first pull and ran nice. I let it warm up a few minutes and hooked it up to my camper. It has a really low volume under low or moderate draw. At full demand it is s little loud but nothing compared to a conventional generator. I ran in eco mode and it ran everything in my rockwood 2205s TT. I put the ac on high and it beared down and powered that with lights, fridge etc. It ran my electric fireplace, with fridge and furnace, lights etc. When the Ac was initiated with low cool setting it ran even smoother at startup. This generator has waterproof covers on all outlets, led lights so you can see and the handle and wheels make it easy to slide around. The fact that it adjust to demand with changing rpm is awesome! My old generator is all or nothing and loud! Definitely alot more value offered for the price point. Smaller 1800 or 2000 watt generators cost the same or more and I would have had to purchase 2 to handle what the westinghouse 3700 can handle. I will update on longevity after spring camping season starts?
